Paweł Szamburski

Paweł Szamburski (b. on 1980 in Warsaw) clarinetist, improviser, an animator of culture.

He studied Cultural Anthropology and Musicology. Co-founder of independent publishing LadoAbc and Cultural Association Lado – the environment, whose consistent activities lasted for almost twenty years as a musical, publishing and animation contribution to the extremely rapid development of new music in Poland.

He co-founded Sza/ZA duo – Szamburski / Zakrocki making interdisciplinary music – for films, theaters, silent cinemas, contemporary dance and plays and literary readings.

He is also participates in projects such as: Cukunft – traditional Jewish music and clarinet quartet Ircha – improvised music; he is also a member of the group of researchers „forest sound” – Horny Trees. He is the founder and leader of the band „Meritum” and for many years he run a series of events with improvised music “Djazzpora”.

In 2009, with the project SzaZa won the award for music composition at the International Theatre Festival “Kontrapunkt” in Szczecin and the grand prize for the music composition from the Ministry of Culture and the National Theatre board during the fifteenth national competition for modern art exhibition. Szamburski was honored at the International Animated Film Festival in Annecy (France 2009) – Award “Sacem” for best film music. Paweł Szamburski composed music for theater plays created by great authors, such as P. Miśkiewicza, P. Cieplaka, K. Globisza, M. Libery, L. Bzdyla and Theater Dada von Bzdulow.

He performed or cooperated with great artist such: Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Tatsuya Yoshida Burkhard Stangl, Franz Hausinger, Paul Brody, Yves Weyh, Frank London, Joe McPhie, Raphael Rogiński, Candelaria Saenz Valiente, Tomasz Duda, Patryk Zakrocki, Macio Moretti, Mikołaj Trzaska, Paul Brody, Wacław Zimpel, Noel Akchote, Michał Gorczyński, Hubert Zemler, Maciej Bielawski, Dj Lenar, Dj Eprom, Dj Olive.
