Two improvisations

Krzysztof Knittel with a built by Piotr Sycha electronic midi harp (controlled with an infrared remote), accompanied by percussion instruments plugged into a Max/Msp computer program, and Grzegorz Rogala with self-constructed audiovisual “instruments”, will play two roughly 30-minute improvisations.

Prof. Krzysztof Knittel- studied sound engineering and composition at the Academy of Music in Warsaw, collaborated with the Experimental Studio of Polish Radio, he worked at The Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at the State University of NY. He teaches at the University of Music F. Chopin.
As a composer and performer toured the world. His discography includes over 50 albums. He is co-founder of many festivals: Audio-Art, Warsaw Autumn, Ad Libitum. He was president of the Association of Polish Composers, and since 2005 he chaired the Polish Council of Music. Winner of many prestigious awards: prize by the Foundation for Contemporary Performance Arts in New York, the Cyprian Norwid Price, the Silver Medal ‘Gloria Artis’ and the Award of the Polish Composers Union.
He is co-author of a number of improvised music groups, Grupy KEW Independent Electroacoustic Music Studios, Go-Go Beuys, Pociąg Towarowy, European Improvisation Orchestra.
