Benedicte Clementsen (born in 1986) is a visual artist, living and working in Bergen, Norway. With her base in time based mediums, she works with a wide range of mediums such as performance, video, sound and installation. Benedicte creates works for a various spectrum of places and tend to work context specific. Her works are visual and aesthetic in character and can be read as abstract anecdotes or metaphors that attempt to convey a recognizable atmosphere. She is curiously concerned with ontology and recurring qualities in her work is the apparent collapse and expansion. It is exposed and accessible, yet veiled at the same time. May 2014 she finished her bachelor degree at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Fine Art department. The collaboration Leinan Clementsen presented the performative project Silver Lining, March 2014 at Galleri Fisk. The autumn of 2013 Benedicte showed works in New York, at Grace Exhibition Space and Panoply Performance Laboratory. In May 2013 she was invited to create a site specific performance for The Lincoln Art Programme, Red Herrings and Chinese Whispers, in Lincoln UK. The fall of 2012 she spent a month in Spain as an artist in residency as well as showing two works in relation to the festival FEM_12.
