Andrew Spira
Researcher of culture and art.
Graduated from the Courtauld Institute of Art before completing a MA degree in Museum and Gallery Management at City University, London. He worked at the Temple Gallery, London (specialist in Byzantine and Russian icons), and as a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He specialises in Russian art (among other subjects) and, in 2008, published ‘The Avant-Garde Icon: Russian Avant-Garde Art and the Icon Painting Tradition’. He has been a Course Director at Christie’s Education since 2004. He is currently working on a book on personal identity and the cultural conventions of western Europe from the Middle Ages to the present day.
